What Does Your Business Do?

We are an all plant-based organic cafe.

What Inspired You to Start Your Business?

I wanted to make a difference and do something that mattered. Be the change you want to see.

Before Coming to the CTSBDC, What Were Your Primary Challenges and/or Needs?

My primary challenges were business planning and funding.

How Has the CTSBDC Helped You Overcome Your Challenges?

The CTSBDC helped me to secure a Loan/Line of Credit with the Community Economic Development Fund (CEDF).

What Have You Learned/Changed Since Working with the CTSBDC?

I have learned how to better network and market my business. Also, how to stay focused and be goal oriented.

How is Your Business Doing Now? What Does Your Future Look Like?

We just moved to a larger, more beautiful location in a better area. We went from 900 square feet to 2100 square feet on Bank Street in New London. We plan to increase our dessert sales, wholesale and walk in traffic by being in a better location suited to increasing revenue.

What Was It Like Working With Your Advisor?

It has been excellent. Matt Nemeth has given me so many tools to be successful and keeps me focused on the important goals. He has become a good friend.

What Words of Advice Would You Give to Small Businesses Looking to Work with CTSBDC?

I would highly recommend working with CTSBDC, and do so regularly. You have to be willing to put the work in and cannot expect the Business Advisor to do it for you. It forces you to take a serious look at your business model and reevaluate what will work and what will not.

"I have been working with Rob from the very beginning and it has been a complete pleasure to watch him grow both as a business owner and entrepreneur." - Matt Nemeth
