Building a Vision: From Compliance to Community-Driven Success Support

Georgia initially came to CTSBDC to become more familiar with the protocols and processes to properly register her business, complete required filings, and secure permits and licenses to establish her business, brand, and clientele.

Working with her advisor, Georgia pivoted from her original franchisee model and decided to develop her own independent, community-based programs, services, and facilities. These collectively provided Georgia with greater control over her operationsand  the freedom to establish her brand, develop comprehensive solutions, and provide personalized mental health solutions for all ages across Connecticut.

“While working with Denise, I was able to establish Powell Mental Health, Powell Real Estate, and Powell Consulting Services. We worked together on business structure, filings, and securing capital to purchase the facility, hire employees, and more,” she says.

"Through the support of SBDC and Denise, I have gained invaluable knowledge, tools, and technical assistance to help me drive strategy and actions. I am now well-versed in business structures, operations, and access to capital, and have secured industry research to support me on this journey," adds Georgia.

Experience

"Denise is a great mentor, advisor, and a trusted professional with so much knowledge. When we needed to bring in an expert, she knew exactly who to reach out to”. Moreover, through Denise’s guidance, Georgia was able to connect with the Black Business Alliance and participate in a pitch competition two years in a row. Since working with CTSBDC, Georgia has discovered the power of networking and building strong partnerships, which has been crucial to the growth and success of her business.

The Business Today
