The Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CTSBDC) proudly announces the appointment of Pilar Illanes as the leader of our upcoming CTSBDC Immigrant Entrepreneur Program.

Pilar will lead our soon-to-be-launched Immigrant Entrepreneur Program, dedicated to empowering immigrant entrepreneurs and international students in Connecticut.
This program aims to empower immigrant entrepreneurs and international students to launch and grow their businesses in Connecticut.

Empowering Immigrant Entrepreneurs Worldwide

With extensive experience in international development and managing complex projects and programs on a global scale, Pilar brings extensive knowledge that she channels into the field of entrepreneurship. Originating from Bolivia, her entrepreneurial roots, combined with her immigrant journey of establishing a business in the USA, have ignited her passion for empowering aspiring immigrant entrepreneurs.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Pilar excels in fostering multicultural understanding and facilitating effective communication, offering invaluable support to entrepreneurs in their early stages and small business owners striving for growth. Central to her mission is the transfer and share the knowledge she has gained over the years alongside her continual acquisition of fresh insights.

Pilar holds a BS in Business Management, a master’s degree in design, Evaluation & Project Management, and an Executive Master’s Degree in Development Studies from the Geneva Graduate Institute in Switzerland. Beyond her academic and professional achievements, Pilar is deeply engaged in community initiatives and mentoring programs focused on empowering women. Her steadfast commitment is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
