At the Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CTSBDC), advising is just one part of the value we offer—our broader network of resources can open unexpected doors for small business owners. Caitlyn Grad of Caitlyn Grad Marketing experienced this firsthand when, through a CTSBDC newsletter, she learned about our partnership with Verizon Small Business Digital Ready, a free online platform offering on‑demand education, networking, grants, and business discounts.
Despite initially wondering whether she would have a real chance at winning even one of the prizes on offer, Grad went on to win a trip to Verizon’s Small Business Training Camp in San Francisco and later secured a competitive $10,000 grant, which she used to invest in new software and redesign her website. She says the experience helped accelerate her business growth, and she encourages others to apply, noting that even a few hours invested could lead to game‑changing support.
Recently, Verizon, in partnership with LISC, announced changes to the way the grant process works that should make it even easier for small businesses to apply. Instead of requiring a new application for each new grant period, in 2026, you can complete any two eligible courses or events to unlock your application. Submit the application anytime in 2026 and remain eligible all year. Ten small businesses will be selected for grants each month. If not selected in a given month, your application will remain eligible for future selections.
Get started with Verizon Small Business Digital Ready today and explore learning opportunities as well as discounts on services like Constant Contact and QuickBooks that many small business owners are already using.
